The purpose of the short course is to develop students’ understanding and conceptual skills of all aspects of furniture design and production, from development and management of prototypes through to the final manufacturing process. Masaccio, Donatello, Brunelleschi , Fra Angelico, Botticelli, just some of the many figures that have shaped Florence and that gave birth to the Renaissance which changed the shape of Art History in Italy.  Through a combination of lectures and field trips, our Gap year course explores their works, their inspirations and the reasons for their choices – their interactions with Italy's Medici family, the social and political activities of the day and the resulting masterpieces that still inspire us now.
