The four-week Summer Digital Illustration course is an intensive introduction to contemporary digital illustration and image-making. Students develop creative and technical skills through individual projects that explore drawing, composition, color, visual storytelling and digital image development, progressing from initial sketches and concepts to resolved digital illustrations. The course is particularly suitable for students of graphic design, illustration, visual communication, marketing and advertising, as well as participants who want to develop their digital image-making skills.
Illustration is not only about technical ability, but also about developing a personal way of communicating visually. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to experiment with different approaches to drawing, color, composition and image-making. Individual feedback helps students identify visual directions that best support their ideas and begin developing their own illustration style.
DESCRIPTION
Taught entirely in English, the course combines illustration fundamentals with practical digital techniques. Students investigate how drawing, imagery, color, composition and visual style can be used to communicate an idea, while developing their ability to create and refine illustrations using Adobe software. Lessons, demonstrations and individual project development encourage students to experiment with different approaches to image-making, from more representational work to stylized and concept-driven illustration. Particular emphasis is placed on developing creative ideas, technical confidence and an individual visual language.
What You Will Study
During the four-week course, students explore the fundamental principles and techniques of digital illustration. Topics include drawing and image development, composition, color, visual communication, digital illustration techniques, Adobe software and the development of individual illustration styles. Students apply these skills through practical exercises and individual projects, developing work from initial ideas and sketches through to finished digital illustrations.
No previous study in digital illustration is required. The course is suitable for students and participants interested in developing their visual and digital skills, particularly those studying or considering further study in graphic design, illustration, visual communication, advertising or marketing.

The short course is held for 4 weeks each summer during the month of June only. The digital illustration course meets 3 hrs per day - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from

SUMMER APPLICATION
ITALIAN LANGUAGE
All Digital Illustration instruction is conducted in English, and previous knowledge of Italian is not required. Students may also attend an introductory Italian language class for three hours per week, providing an opportunity to develop basic language skills while living and studying in Florence.
Short summer courses of graphic design are an intensive introduction to the design process. The studio design course is an introduction to graphic design theory and its application. The course rapidly moves through the fundamental design principles, the planning process and finally the guidelines used in order to create innovative two-dimensional art-work and visual graphics.
Graphic Design Summer Course :

The Graphic Design students in year 1 develop an understanding of color and composition, design, typography, and drawing.The studio design course is an introduction to graphic design theory and its application.
